An excellent original unnamed Eb 'hunting horn',

probably dating from the late 19th century.

No maker's name is engraved or stamped on this very full-

sounding, rich-toned Jagdhorn in E flat.

The exponential taper of its rather Germanic bell, differing

markedly from a typical French bell (such as is found on a

recently sold Raoux  Trompe:

ux-millereau-original-trompe-de-chasse-in-d )

gives its high register a tangible security that is usually

absent or diffuse on many Trompes in D.

The tuneable sliding mouthpiece receiver is a useful,

practical 'gizmo', and the large-bore wide-rimmed brass

mouthpiece, provided, enables the 16th harmonic, 'top C', to

be sounded accurately.

The mouthpiece receiver is wide enough to take a

conventional modern horn mouthpiece.

The horn's attractive bell garland / kranz, 4.4cm wide, is in

good condition, as are the silver plated ferrules in the

corpus.

There are some rather unsightly dings and blemishes in

places, but nothing that affects the horn's playing.

No case is provided for this Jagdhorn; it is simply carried on

the shoulder.
