A beautiful FINKE Model 53, an
astonishingly lightweight 5 valve single
Bb/A+ horn with built-in F extension
operated by the 5th (‘pinky’) finger.
This superb horn has had only very light use.
It is very similar to the Alexander Model 97 but
slightly lighter in weight (2.1 kg, compared to
2.34 kg).
Its detailed specifications are:
Lacquered yellow-brass body in excellent
condition.
Detachable Medium taper lacquered yellow-brass
bell flare in good condition apart from a few very
minor dings, so small that they have to be
pointed out.
Two detachable nickel-silver leadpipes:
Finke Models G2 and 5, offering a choice
of response and resistance levels.
Mini-ball valve linkages.
Polycarbon rotors.
Adjustable duck’s-foot.
Weight: 2.1kg
Finke flat ‘suitcase’ in excellent condition;
quite heavy but very protective.
NB: The horn comes with its original 2nd thumb lever (now detached), formerly used to access the F extension. It would be possible for a brass workshop to change the configuration from its present one (where the F extension is operated by the 5th finger) to a more conventional one with 2 thumb levers.
A lovely horn with great flexibility, a superb
high register, and an even sound over the
whole range.
