FINKE 'Legacy' Model 65
£4,990.00
Maker: FINKE
Germany
Model: 65 / 'Legacy'
Type: Full Double F/Bb or Bb/F, with quick
change reversible 4th valve and multi-way
adjustable thumb lever.
Detachable L bell flare
Two leadpipes:
M, with 'European' (Alexander) receiver and
G3, with 'American' (PHC, Paxman etc) receiver.
The M pipe seems to be the best-balanced of the 2 pipes;
the G3 pipe has a little more overall resistance; however, it
is more focussed and direct in the low register.
Bell details: the FINKE 'L' bell flare is actually Medium-
Large; it is not as wide-throated as e.g. a Paxman 'L' flare.
Alloy: lacquered yellow brass, gold brass leadpipes (the M
pipe is unlacquered), nickel silver rotor casings and tuning
slide inner / outer legs.
Weight: 2.32 kg, extraordinarily light for a horn with
detachable bell flare.
Water key: conventional type on both leadpipes.
Finger hook: adjustable
A superb,very lightweight free-blowing horn, hand made
in Germany by skilled crafts-persons using top quality
materials and parts made by Finke. I have visited their
workshop and observed their superb technical
skills for myself.
The design and general architecture of this
Finke model is that of an original CARL GEYER
double horn, with its wide hoop and small
diameter change valve.
Further details: a really wonderful and versatile
hand-made double horn. The build quality and
craftsmanship are superb.
Every pitch is exactly where you expect it to be,
the rotor action is smooth, light and positive,
and the potential range of tonal colours is
awesome.
This is a lightly used 2nd hand horn in excellent
condition.
Case: very lightweight fixed-bell hard case with back pack
straps.
A totally beautiful horn in every way.
