A VERY INTERESTING LITTLE “BESSON” SAXHORN whose

pistons are operated, unusually, by the left hand.

Its design is similar to the 'Tenor Cor' made in the late

19th and early 20th century by both Hawkes and Boosey

before their 1930 merger as Boosey and Hawkes.

Dating perhaps from the mid-1920s, the horn seems to

have hardly been used, since its silver plate is in good

condition. Perhaps this is due to the fact that it is in F,

rather than E flat; however, it could easily be provided

with 2 extensions for the tuning slide ( which has a

water key), lowering its key to E flat.

The much-used mouthpiece (supplied), most of whose

silver plate is worn, plays well, giving a sweet, focussed

sound.

The three pistons have excellent compression.

There is no case.
