A very good, interesting, 'modified Geyer-type' horn,

made by Alexander in the 1960s, pre-dating the 1103.

No model identification is found on the leadpipe.

When I visited the Alexander factory in the mid-1960s I

saw a similar horn to this one, more free-blowing than a

103, designated a 'Model K'.

Our current lacquered yellow-brass horn's overall condition

can accurately be described as 'much-used', with quite a lot

of missing or worn lacquer, and several small dings, none of

them acoustically significant.

One could truthfully say that the horn is 'cosmetically

challenged'!

Nevertheless it plays extremely well, probably due to the

excellent rotor compression. Physically it is best suited to a

player with large hands, since the all-important 'left hand

comfort measurement' (finger hook to 4th / thumb valve

plate) is 12 cm.

The horn produces a ringing, centred sound over the

whole range.

Its very compact original 'moc-croc' case, with hardly any

protective interior padding, (as was the norm with those 1960s

cases!), is visually rather shabby but still functional, with the

clasps and catches all working OK.

A vintage nickel silver Paxman 3C mouthpiece is included.
