Further details: this ‘classic’ 8D from the
legendary Elkhart 1952-53 era plays superbly over
the entire range. Its high register and overall 'ease of playing'
has been very much enhanced by an 'Artisan' custom AH1
leadpipe, hand-made in London, UK, by Armen Boldy.
Nevertheless the original pipe (lacking the top cap on the receiver and
the final tenon/inner slide) is included.
NB: 'Good Luck' to any purchaser
who wishes to replace Armen's superb leadpipe!
The horn has THREE 'Saturn' water keys; curiously the one on the
Bb 3rd slide is positioned in a rather inaccessible place
(see photos).
