Alexander's 'Geyer model', the 1103, is the perfect

double horn for the player wanting the 'traditional Alex

sound' from an instrument that is quite a lot more free-

blowing than the ubiquitous '103'.

This lightly-used, lacquered gold brass horn's overall

condition can be described accurately as 'very nearly

immaculate'; its owner reports that it was fully serviced very

recently by Roy Cox Brass Repairs, UK.

The horn, serial number 28725, has a lovely 'ring' to the

middle and high registers, and plenty of rich

sonority lower down the range.

It is a really 'flexible' horn, with great fluency (mobility);

this is a definite advantage over the general character of the

other well known Alexander double, the 103, which

sometimes seems to 'get stuck' in the middle register.

It is reasonably light in weight for a detachable-bell

horn: 2.47kg.

The comfort of the  left-hand position is determined by the

laterally-adjustable thumb-plate on the 4th-valve linkage.

Included in the price is an excellent Marcus Bonna

detachable-bell case, and a silver plated Alexander 8M

mouthpiece.
