MODEL:  Class A 'Excelsior Sonorous', 

 

converted/adapted from a Hawkes & Son 

 

piston horn whose valves had worn

 

out beyond affordable repair.


 

Serial number: 43414

 

Year of manufacture: 1920-1921    

 

Eight crooks:

 

        •  HAWKES F crook OR original Couesnon F crook 

           COUESNON original crooks for A, Ab, G, E,

Eb, D and C basso. The Ab, G, E and C basso crooks

are in 'nearly new' condition.

 

NB: a Webb-Halstead C alto crook is optionally

available for £105, as is a French style modern

'repro' Bb basso coupler for £130.

 

 

           •   The internal taper of the horn's receiver is

compatible with Paxman crooks from 1982-1990s,

and Webb-Halstead crooks and couplers 1988-2014.
