ALEXANDER 90, 1950s

A really lovely vintage unlacquered yellow-brass Alexander Model 90 with a fixed bell.

Alexander Model 90s of this era were incredibly light in weight, and this one is no exception: 1.37 kg / 3 lb.

Dating from the 1950s, this beautiful horn plays with a concentrated, warm and velvety sound, a big dynamic range, a wide tonal palette and an impressive fluency over its entire compass. There are some minor cosmetic dings and blemishes, but nothing that affects the horn’s excellent playing qualities.

The 4th valve is provided with the conventional 2-piece 'A+' slide, which converts to 'A' by removing the H-piece; additionally there is an aesthetically pleasing detachable F extension, circular in shape.

The horn was fully serviced only 2 years ago at Michael Rath's brass workshop in Holmfirth, Huddersfield.

Its hard case is a fairly recent one, in good condition.
