Maker:  Herbert Fritz KNOPF,

Markneukirchen, GDR (the former East

Germany).

Type:  F/Bb double

Bell throat profile: medium

Alloy: lacquered yellow brass

Bell flare: fixed

Visual/cosmetic condition: the lacquer is slightly worn in

few places; there are some small 'non acoustical'

blemishes: one of these can be seen in photo #2  (a

shallow 'ding'/ depression in the tubing emerging from

the 4th valve); the other blemishes are some tiny dings

in the bell flare, seen in photo #3, in which the

lacquer wear on the bell stay can also be seen.

Black fibreglass case with 3 functional clasps; the

case bears a label / sticker reading 'Alan Civil

collection'.

Further details: the horn's owner reports that the

valves' slides, when pulled, have a lot of 'poppiness'

indicating good compression, and that the horn

plays beautifully overall

The only reason it is for sale is that its owner,

with whom the horn is housed, in North London,

decided fairly recently to stop playing.

Contact details can be supplied on

request.

Its 'sub-£2K' price qualifies it for a parallel

listing in the 'Intermediate' category, although it is

a professional-quality horn.

The photos can be viewed in greater detail
