Maker: REYNOLDS

Model: FE01 'Contempora'

Type: F/Bb full double

Serial number: 244134

Bell throat profile: medium-large

Alloy: unlacquered nickel silver

Bell flare: fixed

Valve compression: very good

Water key: Amado/Getzen, on the leadpipe

Visual condition: good for its age; there are

various small scratches, minor dings and surface

blemishes that have no effect on the horn’s excellent

playing qualities. Also, there is a nickel silver patch on

the outer bell throat. The horn's price reflects these

cosmetic issues.

Weight: 2.49 kg

Original Reynolds case in much-used but functional

condition.

Further details: A very good example of this ‘classic’

free-blowing double horn. It has a very 'notchy' high

register, and its low register is beautifully open.

Several years ago the entire horn section of the London

Philharmonic Orchestra played Reynolds horns...quite a

powerful testimony to the quality of this model, sadly

no longer in production.

NB: Although a professional-quality horn, it is also

listed in the Intermediate category on account of its

modest price.
