'JAGDHORN' / PARFORCE HORN in Eb with rotary change valve for Bb
£495.00
An excellent German-style hunting horn,
made by LIDL, Brno, this 'Jagdhorn' has a slightly
wider bore and bell throat than the more familiar
French cor-de-chasse, whose bell flare's 'triangular'
profile and very narrow tubing produce its well-known and
somewhat notorious brassy, bleating sound.
The horn's single rotary valve bypasses one of
its loops, raising the harmonic series to B flat, giving
'in tune' 11th and 13th harmonics (high F and A) and a
very secure 'top C'; so, it is maybe not appropriate
for the a 'doctrinaire' player of the traditional
outdoor hunting horn!
The mouthpiece receiver is a sliding leadpipe
extension with a screw clamp, giving some pitch
flexibility from about A 444 to A 438.
NB: Although it comes with a very good, interesting-
looking 'Shuster' black fibreglass 'mint with the hole'
case, this characterful horn is offered for sale
only via personal collection (from Dover, Kent, UK).
Couriering or shipping would be very impractical,
almost certainly resulting in damage.
