'JAGDHORN' (German hunting horn) in E flat
£490.00
An excellent original hunting horn,
('Jagdhorn') probably dating from the
mid-19th century.
No maker's name is engraved or stamped on this very full-
sounding, round-toned German (or Austrian?) version in E
flat of a French Cor de Chasse.
The curved taper of its bell differs markedly from a
typical 'triangular' French bell, such as is found
on a beautiful, recently sold Raoux Trompe:

ux-millereau-original-trompe-de-chasse-in-d ).
This curved bell gives the high register of our current horn
a tangible security that is often absent or diffuse
on many French Trompes in D.
The tuneable sliding mouthpiece receiver is a useful,
practical 'gizmo'; furthermore the receiver is wide enough to
take a conventional modern horn mouthpiece.
The horn's attractive bell garland / kranz, 4.4cm wide, is in
good condition, as are the silver plated ferrules in the
corpus.
There are a few dings and blemishes,
but nothing that affects the horn's playing.
No case is provided for this characterful Jagdhorn;
it is simply carried on the shoulder.
NB: it is offered for sale only via personal collection
(from Dover, Kent, UK).
Couriering or shipping would be very impractical,
almost certainly resulting in damage.
The photos can be viewed in greater detail
by opening and saving them.
