PETRIE & SON

AGENTS

CAPETOWN

and on the bell garland:

R A BAND

PTH 1

  2 crooks: F, vintage, possibly Boosey, silver plated;

                Eb, modern, lacquered yellow brass.

 A useful optional extra is available for £95:

a  John Webb small coupler in very good condition;

this gives E and in combination with the F and Eb crooks.

It can be seen in photos 2 and 4.

           •   The internal taper of the horn's receiver and

that of the coupler is compatible with

Paxman crooks from 1982-the 1990s,

and

Webb-Halstead crooks and couplers, 1988-2014.

This is a useful, inexpensive 'starter' hand

horn. Its appearance is quite startling: what looks

like tarnish is almost impossible to polish off; it is a

very hard, glossy brown 'patina' that acts almost

like a baked-on lacquer.

The photos can be viewed in greater detail

 by opening and saving them.
