MODEL:  Class A 'Excelsior Sonorous', 

 

converted/adapted from a Hawkes & Son 

 

piston horn whose valves had worn

 

out beyond affordable repair.


 

Serial number: 43414

 

Year of manufacture: 1920-1921    

 

Eight crooks and an adaptor / extension for A430:

 

        •  HAWKES original crooks for F and Eb;

           COUESNON original crooks for A, Ab, G, E,

D and C basso. The Ab, E and C basso crooks are in

'nearly new' condition.


 

           •   The internal taper of the horn's receiver is

compatible with Paxman crooks from 1982-1990s, and

Webb-Halstead crooks and couplers 1988-2014.
