Maker: SCHILLER

Model: a generalised Conn 9D copy

'Schiller, Frankfurt Germany' is a stencil name; the

horn was almost certainly made in China or possibly

Taiwan.

Bore / throat: medium-large

Alloy: silver plated brass

Bell flare: detachable

Valve compression: very good

Water key: conventional type, on the leadpipe.

Adjustable finger hook (allen key supplied).

PHC mouthpiece with PTP hypoallergenic screw rim.

Weight: 2.8 kg – slightly heavier than a typical

Conn (2.6 kg) with detachable bell flare.

Visual / cosmetic condition: only lightly used;

however, the silver plate has dulled, visually, in

some of the more inaccessible places. Just a few

small, insignificant dings merely confirm that this is

a 2nd hand horn, and have no effect on the way it

plays.

The gold plated rotor caps and valve levers add an

attractive touch of 'visual bling'!

Further details: this 'Intermediate' double horn plays

very well indeed, very similarly to a Conn original,

which is exactly what it sets out to do!

It has a comfortable free-blowing 'feel', with a good

high register and a compact, ringing sound over the

whole range.

Housed in quite a lightweight detachable bell case

with backpack straps, this inexpensive double

horn represents excellent 'value-for-money’.
