W.BROWN & SONS 19th century piston / hand horn with 6 crooks

This horn is one of three W. Brown & Sons instruments in a former private collection which is now being dispersed.


Specifications: 3 Périnet valves as a detachable sauterelle with 11 mm central bore; additional shorter main tuning slide for high pitch. Crooks: F, E flat, D, G (the latter not by W. Brown), A and B flat alto; 2 tubes to replace the sauterelle for hand horn playing.

Adjustable finger hook, detachable for hand horn playing.

Inscribed on the garland: W. BROWN & SONS, MAKERS. 2 TRACEY STREET. KENNINGTON ROAD. LONDON No 259.

There is no case, but several suitable cases are available at reasonable cost.
