£440.00

An excellent Brussels-made  C. MAHILLON (1841-1924) ‘Model 412’ piston horn, circa 1890-1910, with a full, round sound throughout its entire compass.

This model was listed in the Mahillon catalogue from about 1880 until the start of WW1. With its main tuning slide 'pushed in' it plays quite high in pitch (approx A443) but has a long enough slide (and the 3 valve slides) to lower the pitch to A440.  It comes with a good W. Brown F crook and a very small vintage mouthpiece that is very similar but not identical to an ‘Aubrey Brain’ model.

Engraved on the outer bell throat is:

    GOLD MEDAL PARIS 1878
