The JP 161 'Mini' single Bb horn is designed to be

an appropriate, comfortable size for a small

young player.

About 60% the size of a normal, full-size horn, it is

angled so as to encourage a correct posture,

embouchure and right hand position.

The young student does not have to "reach" or

stretch the body to put the mouthpiece on the lips.

The horn produces a nicely 'rounded' sound just

like a full size horn.

With its 28 cm/11 inch bell diameter and small throat, a

beginner’s right hand fits comfortably and correctly into

the bell aperture.  An extra advantage is that the young

player can learn to play ‘stopped’ horn earlier on in

their lessons than with a full size horn; although the

pitch of the stopped notes will be slightly too sharp,

nonetheless the exercise will be useful.

To ensure maximum comfort of the left hand, there is

an adjustable duck's foot.

Several horns of this model are available, in slightly

varying condition. All are fully playable. There is a

choice of fixed bell case or gig bag.

NB:  The John Packer shop is currently out of stock of

this horn, which, when new, costs (£373) more than

twice the price of ours described above.
