Model: 'Contempora'

Type: F/Bb full double

Bell throat size: medium-large

Alloy: yellow brass

Bell flare: fixed

Valve compression: good.

Visual/ cosmetic condition: very good for its age; there are just a few small scratches, worn lacquer in the usual places, and minor surface blemishes that have no effect on the horn’s excellent playing qualities.

Water key: conventional type, on the leadpipe.

Case: original Reynolds 'suitcase'; quite heavy, very protective.

Weight: 2.57 kg

Further details: A very good example of this ‘classic’ very free-

blowing double horn.  It plays evenly and sensitively over the

whole range.  Its 'sub-£2K' price qualifies it for a parallel

listing in the 'Intermediate' category, although it is

professional-quality horn.

Several years ago the  London Philharmonic Orchestra's horn

section played Reynolds 'Contempora' instruments, both yellow

brass and nickel silver.
