Model: Professor Wendler

Type:  compensating double in F/Bb or Bb/F

Bell throat profile: Medium-Large

Alloy: lacquered gold brass

Bell flare: fixed, hand-hammered one piece construction.

Valve compression: excellent

Lacquer: 95% OK

Duck's-foot/flipper fitted

Visual/cosmetic condition: generally very good; there is slight lacquer loss on some tuning slides and their nickel silver ‘outers’, and on the other expected places where hands touch the surfaces.

Case: lightweight, with side pockets and backpack straps.

Further details: a superb hand-made one-owner horn from new, about 9-12 years ago; a wonderful player in all registers, more free-blowing on the F side than many compensators; this means that the horn can be used on a low part just as effectively as a full double. Its high register is spectacularly clear and 'notchy'; a lovely, memorable horn in every way.

Photo #4, above, is a scanned image of a 55-years old catalogue published by the London instrument retailer 'Rudall Carte', listing Kruspe horns and the Wendler model in particular.
