Model: 103

Yellow brass

Fixed bell flare

Miniball rotor action

Very good rotor compression.

Water key (conventional type) on the lead-pipe.

Alexander 'moc-croc' case in 'well-used' condition.

Further details: an excellent Alex 103 that simply ‘ticks all the boxes’ excepting the 'visual condition' one.

The nickel silver 'shield' on the upper bell flare dates it to the late 1980s/ early 1990s.

Although the horn was overhauled very recently, its lacquer is quite worn in several places, and there are many scratches round the back of the bell throat and the upper 'spout'. The owner tells me that these were caused by the brass buttons on the uniform of a marching band.

NB: The latter description simply refers to the 'cosmetic condition', with no effect on the horn's performance, which includes: superb ‘note centering’; a clear but warm and ‘ringing’ sound, and an excellent high register.  What more could one wish for?
