BOOSEY & HAWKES 'IMPERIAL' piston horn
£490.00
An excellent Boosey & Hawkes silver
plated piston horn with crooks for F, Eb and A.
Serial number 174317 (1949-1950).
The horn plays with a surprising ‘freedom of blow’,
a clear, focussed sound, nd no obvious 'wolf' or
'rollers' (particularly on the 'G' 12th harmonic of
all 3 crooks). The pistons have good
compression, but are slightly noisy if not oiled
(as can be expected!)
It is also worth mentioning that the valve section's tuning
slides are short enough to permit playing with the A crook
when fully pushed in. The A crook can be seen in place in
photo 5, with the slides pushed in fully.
There is a superb hand-made and very well-padded gig
bag with shoulder strap.
The photos can be viewed in greater detail
by opening and saving them.
