One of several W. Brown & Sons instruments

 

formerly in a  private collection, now being

 

dispersed.

 

 

Specifications: 3 Périnet valves as a

 

detachable sauterelle with 11.2 mm central bore.

 

 

Crooks: F, G and A;  2 tubes and an alternative tuning

 

slide to replace the sauterelle for hand horn playing.

 

The crooks have a few dings (especially the G crook)

 

that have no effect on their playing.

 

Inscribed on the garland: W. BROWN & SONS

 

MAKERS 323 KENNINGTON ROAD LONDON No

 

1004.

 

This horn (made probably 1911-1928) is listed in the

 

Galpin Society's online 'List of surviving

 

W. Brown & Sons  brass instruments':
