Maker:  YAMAHA

Model:  YHR 667

Type:  F/Bb or Bb/F full double

Bell throat profile: medium

Tubing bore/ internal diameter: 12 mm

Alloy: lacquered yellow brass, gold brass leadpipe

Bell flare: fixed

Water key: conventional type, on the mouthpipe

Weight: 2.48 kg

Visual/cosmetic condition: very good, hardly any signs of use apart from some very small lacquer scratches inside the bell flare and several deeper ones on the outside of the bell 'neck' just above the name engraving. Of course, these are merely cosmetic issues that have no effect on the horn’s excellent playing qualities.

Valve compression: excellent

Case: original Yamaha hard case.

Further details: this model is well-known as an ‘easy blower’ requiring less effort than many other double horns. Generally, an excellent player with an even response over the entire range.

Price comparison: This horn's brand-new lowest discount price is £3,606 (Alan Gregory, Manchester).

'Stop press’… I have just found out that Yamaha has only recently discontinued the 667 after over 30 years. So, my prediction is that this model will soon become a rare and highly-sought-after ‘iconic horn’!

The horn is currently housed with its owner in Shropshire; contact info can be supplied on request.
