Model: 'Contempora'

Place of origin: USA

Type: F/Bb full double

Bell throat profile: medium-large

Alloy: unlacquered yellow brass

Bell flare: fixed

Valve compression: good.

Water key: 'Amado/ Getzen' on the leadpipe

Visual/ cosmetic condition: very good for its age; there are just a few small scratches and minor surface blemishes that have no effect on the horn’s excellent playing qualities.

Case: hard case; 'has seen some use' but functionally OK.

Weight: 2.6 kg / 5 lb 12 oz

Further details: A very good example of this ‘classic’ free-blowing double horn. Not that many years ago the entire horn section of the London Philharmonic Orchestra played Reynolds horns!

I am selling the instrument on behalf of Gerry Birch Music Services; it has been fully overhauled by Mr Birch, who has made a very effective modification to the 4th valve lever so that it can comfortably be reached and operated by players with small hands.

A brand new Denis Wick #5N silver plated mouthpiece, which works well with this horn, and can be seen in the photos, is available as an optional extra for £30.00 (typical new price £51.80).
