Further details:

Hans Smit's horns, hand-made in the Netherlands,

deserve to be better-known. His superb instruments have

acquired almost a 'cult following' by many discerning

players.

This horn plays beautifully over the whole range. On the F

side of most compensators, one usually expects a lot more

resistance than on a full double, but on this horn, it is

remarkably free-blowing. Also, the Bb side is incredibly

responsive, being both 'fluid' and 'slotted'.

That is quite an achievement for a horn maker!

I can truthfully say that overall this is the finest

compensator I've ever played.

It is the perfect horn for the player who wants

a lighter instrument.
